Acting coach Iris Klein joins Greg Aden to explain the moment to moment connection exercise she uses with actors, leaders and parents.
Iris has coached actors for decades, and connection is the foundation of everything she teaches. She describes the exercise where two people sit across from each other, hold hands, and receive what the other person is giving without adding a story to it. She and Greg talk about why children pick it up quickly and adults resist, how being trained for the future starting in first grade pulls us out of the present, and what it means to allow your talent to be at the effect of your partner instead of working to be seen.
They also get into regret and revisioning the past for what it taught you rather than beating yourself up, why intimacy is a question of being in time with each other, and simple ways to get grounded again, including a walk in nature, bare feet on the earth, and a rooting meditation that wakes the senses back up.
