Michelle Santaferraro on moving from Denver to Tuscany, learning Italian as an adult, and choosing to speak to connect instead of staying on the sidelines.
For her first year in Italy, Michelle let her husband do the talking. This year her mantra changed, which means starting the conversation with the delivery driver, the neighbor at the end of the driveway, and the clerk at the post office, even when she does not have the words yet. Greg and Michelle talk about staying curious instead of filling in the story yourself, the Italian phrase che significa and why asking what something means opens more than a yes or no answer, and being gentle with yourself while you learn.
Michelle also shares how 28 years of organizing work taught her that people organize their chaos through their learning style, how she came to work with InteraWorks, and the advice she would give a room of 22 year olds: say I don't know, but I am willing to learn.
