Ed Schenkein on Trusting Yourself and Leading From the Heart

Greg Aden talks with Ed Schenkein about the shift from leading with ego and intellect to leading from the heart, a change Ed traces back to his late twenties. Ed shares the mentors who shaped him, including his mother going to law school while he was in high school, and partner Wes Stark, who taught him that he did not have to know everything, only where to find resources, and that it is okay to leave a little on the table when you are doing the right thing. He also credits coaches Doug McGee and Bob Newman for helping him get more comfortable being vulnerable. His advice to emerging leaders is simple: trust yourself, quiet the ego, stay self aware, do your work, and be generous, respectful and kind.
