Dr. Rakshanda Rahman on Integrity, Leadership and Being a Woman Surgeon

Dr. Rakshanda Rahman traces her path from a teenager in Pakistan choosing between engineering and medicine to leading a breast cancer center, and she is candid about what changed and what did not for women in surgery and in senior leadership roles. She talks about two mentors who shaped her: her father, a man of principle who put his children in the best school he could barely afford, and Stephen Covey, who answered an angry email she sent him and then coached her by email for years. The second half of the conversation is about her book, Leadership Deconstructed, and why she believes leadership programs give integrity a checkbox and then move on to technique. Greg and Dr. Rahman dig into the small everyday breaches, the missed reply, the arriving late without a text, and what it costs a leader who cannot hold themselves accountable.
